A6

Typography, Textile, Creative Direction
A typographic self-portrait made of Mexican textile string.
Somewhere between typography, cultural storytelling, and the marriage and juxtaposition of man and machine is the completion of this piece. For years, I have admired and gravitated towards work that, although finalized and perfected in some cases, never betrays the obvious touch of the human hand. With each minuscule imperfection, the value of the human experience and hard work is expanded, rather than devalued. Inspired by drop caps and Latin American handcrafted textile designs, I chose to portray myself typographically through a singular sewn piece titled A6. The initial letter “A” represents the first letter of my name, and the only repeated letterform in the rest of my four names.
